What will it take to win it this year?

That was the question I had in my mind when I saw our esteemed (but obviously 'prediction challenged') commissioner's predictions. So I looked up Bru's championship totals from last year. 21,950 won it last year. I won't go into all the numbers here, but Bru just dominated on pitching. Accumulating more pitching points than any other manager.

I know I said I would post this tomorrow but Carpenter (who is on my team in another league) is getting shelled, so I figured I should post something now because tomorrow is pretty chock full with my Royal's opener (along with a bunch of OTHER baseball) then the OSU and Florida game tomorrow night. So I am posting this a little early (and maybe a little lightly) tonight.

The one thing that stands out from Bru's season (to me) is Harang.

When we drafted I wouldn't even consider Harang. Maybe someone valued him as high as he actually produced, but I sure didn't. He pitches in a terrible park and had never put up great numbers. Last year he was a fantasy stud. Not only significantly upping his K's and winning five more games than ever before in his career, but pitching over 230 innings. A season that came out of nowhere.

Which brings me to one aspect of winning a points league. Getting lucky.

Not that I am calling Bru lucky. Not at all. I am calling him VERY lucky.

Ok, that was just a joke. But a winner would HAVE to be pleasantly surprised not only once or twice but a few times. Now I know a very smart manager can find 'diamonds in the rough'. Of course I am not one of those managers so I attribute it only to luck.

I'm sure people wonder about my predictions. Heck I wonder to!!! Really I base them on being a total baseball freak, watching player tendancies, player movement (free agents, trades etc) Are they having a career yr? Are they one yr wonders ? And the biggest thing is fantasy mgr tendancies. Will the mgr play more players from a cetain team(s), does he dislike certain players or teams?. Can predictions get into his head? These are all factors when I make predictions. And most times I'm right on.
I do enjoy being commish of my 2 leagues. I do enjoy the GM's and what they add to the leagues. I like seeing everyone getting fired up about their teams. I enjoy that my feeble predictions add to the fire and fan the flames.

Yes, You actually use knowledge... novel idea. I only look at numbers usually. And I want you to know that I LOVE your predictions. The trash talking style is perfect!
